How Weight Loss Works

Although there are many fad diets or programs advertised to help you lose weight, the only reliable long term and safe method is simple – burn more calories than you consume.  This is done either by reducing calorie intake or by increasing daily physical activity.  Ideally, weight loss should be done by eating a nutritionally balanced low-calorie diet and sustained physical mobility.

There is no best weight loss program.  There are numerous commercial diets that can help you lose weight.  Some people lose weight on their own.  Others find structured programs more effective.  Regardless of your preference, if you want to try a weight loss program be sure to ask around or do some research.  Better still, talk to your doctor.  He is in a better position to help you set up a weight loss plan specifically tailored for you.

Bear in mind that quick weight loss plans will not keep weight off in the long run.  Nothing will substitute for losing weight gradually coupled with a healthy diet and exercise.  Good eating habits and exercise you develop along the way will help you control your weight and be healthy.
