God's Diet
God's Diet author, Dorothy Gault-McNemee, M.D. had been in and out of diets and had gone through all the success and failures of each. She was spending a fortune on diet books and on fad diets with little success as she remained overweight, sluggish and lacking the energy needed to get by each day. After she read somewhere that she had the fat genes and that, basically, her being overweight was not her fault nor her choice but was determined by her genetic make-up, she decided to give dieting up altogether and start eating everything she wanted, without restrictions. Needless to say, this did not make her any happier. If anything, it made her feel even more desperate and unhappy.

It is said that necessity is the mother of invention. In the case of God's Diet, this is particularly true.
