Not Exercising, What Is Your Excuse?
The most frequently cited barrier to exercise is not having the time. But as one fitness buff points out, active people have just as much or as little time as anyone else. It is just a matter of time management. For one, instead of watching television, you can spend that time exercising. You can even break certain exercises to segments and still get the benefits. Demands of work, school and family should not rub you of time for exercise – a must for overall health. Middle-age means a slower metabolism that makes it easy to gain pounds. Many people start exercising to lose weight and when it does not happen immediately, they give up. Some people are genetically predisposed to being overweight but exercise can counterbalance genetics. Unfortunately, a few trips to the gym will not dissolve your belly instantly. Exercise does not work that way. Getting rid of unwanted bulges means exercising the entire body regularly. Whether you hire a trainer, buy a treadmill or rent exercise videos, spending money on fitness is money well-spent. At the very least, get a good pair of shoes. Walking is free and it is exercise. You do not have to go to the gym to exercise so not being able to afford gym membership is not an excuse. Some people reason out that they are too old to exercise. You are never too old or out of shape to start exercising. People who exercise for the first time will just need a doctor’s assessment particularly anyone over 45 years of age. Swimming is a good non-impact exercise for everyone. Another fitness option that is easy on the body is yoga. It emphasizes slow and gentle movements allowing a person to maintain strength and flexibility without overexerting himself/herself. No more excuses, start exercising!
